Mentoring In Motion® and Past The Bar® to Present a Program and Speak to Rutgers Law School - Newark Law Students and Future Young Attorneys  

West Orange, NJ (January 20, 2008) – Mentoring in Motion, LLC ® announced today it will present a program and speak to Rutgers Law School – Newark law school students at the law school, hosted by the Career Services and Professional Development Office at the law school on January 19, 2008, in Newark, New Jersey.

Edward Miller, Jr., co-president of Mentoring in Motion, LLC, will speak on “Controlling Your Destiny – The Best Chances for a Successful & Satisfied Career in Private Practice.” The program is designed to give law school students an understanding on what to expect once entering the private practice of law.

The legal profession is filled with lawyers who feel trapped and pigeonholed in their careers and who hate what they do for a living. There is a significant and alarming rate of depression, drug and alcohol dependency and even suicide among the attorney population.

Most law students c ome out of school with large debt and grasp for the biggest paycheck and end up miserable, or feel like a failure if they don’t end up at one of the most prestigious and largest firms who dominate the legal media. Many find themselves lost in the quest for money, power, prestige and the billable hour.

The better equipped law student has a better chance to rise above and attain a successful and happy career. The program will offer practical, easy to implement tips as well as share real-life examples, and cover things like student expectations vs. reality of practice, business of law issues, establishing and achieving their missions, building the skills necessary, and career satisfaction.
